After seeing Friends Fest advertised in London last year, Liv and I got quite excited to see it was returning to additional locations across London and the rest of the country.
We’d booked to go along to it just down the road at Chiswick House early on a Sunday. It turned out that we had arrived at the wrong entrance, so after a short walk around the beautiful Chiswick House Gardens, we made our way in.
We got in line for our timeslot at Monica’s apartment and had done well to book an early one as the queue got longer and longer as the day went on.
They had the sofa from the show’s opening titles just outside of Monica’s apartment and you could get your photo taken on it whilst posing with the famous umbrellas – all as the theme tune repeated on an endless loop.
(I felt sorry for the poor woman working on photography having done a similar job at Madame Tussaud’s back in the day).
Monica’s iconic apartment was kitted out authentically with all the small details, even down to the American foods in the kitchen area.
There was also a smaller mock-up of Chandler and Joey’s apartment with La-Z-Boy Recliners and the boxed out TV, as well as chick and duck pillows as a tribute to the pets of the show.
Central Perk was outside and had fake pastries, comfy couches and the stage that Phoebe graced with her performances. On some dates they had live music playing in there too.
They had a huge outdoor stage with a giant screen where fans were able to watch episode clips – it was again on loop so it got a bit annoying as we tucked into our chocolate covered waffles and watered down “lemonade”. (You can get Beyoncé’s version of Lemonade here.)
There was other themed food on offer – think mac and cheese, milkshakes marhsmallows and even a Mockolate stand. The Diner (where Monica worked) also served burgers and french fries.
The gift shop was worth a quick visit before leaving but we gave the on-site silent disco a miss!
After grabbing a photo at the wedding chapel from the Vegas episodes, Liv and I headed off into central London for the day before unlimited pizza at the Homeslice Slice and Spritz party.
Friends Fest tickets were available from £24.00 but last year’s dates sold out in 16 minutes. You can check out the dates for Summer 2017 on their website.
